In this surreal narrative, my Cheesehead character becomes a hybrid of Marie Antoinette and Miss Havisham. "Let Them Eat Cheesecake" explores my impressions of the 1946 film adaptation of "Great Expectations" directed by David Lean. The story of Miss Havisham is haunting, the jilted bride who left her decomposing wedding banquet as a constant reminder of her love and life lost. In "Let Them Eat Cheesecake" a young version of Miss Havisham endlessly consumes bright confections while being entertained by dancing poodles and surrounded by her cats. The lush visual style of Sofia Coppola's 2006 film "Marie Antoinette" influenced the fancy feast and the over indulgence of the mistress of the castle. The Cheshire Cat in her lap is inviting the viewer to have a seat at the table.
