Om Cheesehead Om II combines my interest in spirituality and symbology with the narrative of Star Map Kid on his quest to find his way back home. The flying carpet has captivated me since hearing folk tales and seeing illustrations from "One Thousand and One Nights". The idea of overcoming a difficult journey is the inspiration of creative thought, the actual execution of an idea endeavors to create the magic carpet for the viewer.
The red border design is a simple yantra, like a mandala, its purpose is to focus the mind. The symbols from the top center clockwise are spring, summer, fall and winter. The top right corner is Garuda, bottom right corner is Ba, bottom left is Hokmah, top left is Wind. All the symbols I draw on are starting points for questioning our belief systems, inspiring a search for answers and to go beyond the superficial.
