"Cheesy Rider" was created for La Luz De Jesus Gallery's 25th Anniversary Exhibit and companion book. To celebrate the anniversary of this rebellious gallery, I researched images of the 60's and psychedelia. My reimagining of "Easy Rider", directed by Dennis Hopper in 1969, combines a Cheesehead version of Peter Fonda and Hippie symbology with a Pop sensibility. The 60's that represented rebellion against the establishment has evolved into an established brand. The frame called "Standing and Sitting Baby Army" compliments the theory that the rebel symbols of peace and individuality have devolved into candy cereal and peace sign t-shirts for the masses.
