Seeking to interpret her dreams and visions, Snow Mack's artistic endeavors focus on surreal narratives. Through deciphering the qualities of dreams and visions, she aspires to capture the timeless mysteries of the soul on canvas. The results of Snow's creative processes form a fluid jigsaw puzzle of her psyche. Pop Surrealism and psychedelic influences combine to make Snow's art visually enchanting and compelling. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Snow is influenced by the places she visits in life, in dreams and in between. Snow graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. While at Art Center, Snow met Kevin Mack, a California native and creative soul. After graduation they married, leading an artistic life style that has ranged from performing and recording music with their band "The Fringe" to working in production for the entertainment industry. Snow has had the pleasure of working on many films such as "Apollo 13", "Titanic", "What Dreams May Come", "Fight Club" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Snow creates matte paintings also known as background paintings, often completely transforming the filmed image from green screen to mountain vista or dawn lit desert. Snow also works in advertising print, transforming photos shot in a studio to surreal landscapes. In 2011, Snow Mack participated in the 25th Anniversary of the gallery La Luz de Jesus, a retrospective group exhibit and book featuring over 250 artists. One show review said of La Luz, "It was indeed a "light", that not only brightened the art scene in L.A., but influenced it on an international scale." Adding, "Art lovers should most definitely buy the book, but we suggest seeing the show in person too.". Snow Mack is excited and honored to be included in the book "La Luz de Jesus 25" along side so many esteemed colleagues. Snow Mack continues to work as a fine artist and show in galleries in California, New York and Berlin. Currently living and creating in Los Angeles, Snow and Kevin have two grown sons and three cats. |
